Week 3 of MPL Malaysia saw Selangor Red Giants (SRG) extend their perfect run in a record-breaking clash against RRQ TORA (RRQ)

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 20 April 2026—The MLBB Academy League Malaysia (MAL MY) returns today (20 April) for its fifth season, opening with 12 rising grassroots teams battling through Regular Season Stage 1 for a shot at the next phase. This season debuts the "Blessing System", a new competitive feature designed to enhance match balance. Introduced during the Ban/Pick phase, it provides eligible lower-ranked teams with strategic allowances against higher-ranked opponents—helping level the playing field without altering core gameplay.

First launched in January 2024 by MOONTON Games and IO Esports, MAL MY continues to strengthen Malaysia's esports pipeline by offering a clear pathway from grassroots competition to the professional stage. Stage 1 of the Regular Season runs from 20 April to 6 May, followed by Stage 2 from 11 to 21 May, before culminating in the Playoffs from 12 to 14 June. The top six teams will then compete for a USD 20,000 (~MYR 85,769) prize pool. For more information on MAL MY, stay tuned to https://www.instagram.com/mal.malaysia/.

Week 3 Table Watch: SRG remain the team to beat in MPL Malaysia
SRG and RRQ entered Week 3 of MPL Malaysia Season 17 as the last unbeaten teams, but RRQ's perfect run came to an abrupt end on Day 1 following a decisive 2-0 sweep by Team Vamos (VMS). The pressure only mounted as RRQ suffered another 2-0 defeat at the hands of SRG in their first-ever clash, which drew record-breaking attention with 633,556 Peak Concurrent Viewers (PCV), according to Esports Charts—the highest in MPL Malaysia's Regular Season history. SRG extend their flawless record to cement their status as the team to beat. While Invictus Gaming (IG) remains in third, but the margin for error is shrinking as VMS and Team Rey (TR) closed out Week 3 unbeaten, keeping the pressure firmly on the teams above.
