22 March 2024

JOHOR BARU: Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor Sdn Bhd (KPRJ) is set to collaborate with Moonton Games for the organisation of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 14 Southern Festival in Johor. This partnership marks a step forward in realising the state government's ambition of making Johor a centre for esports in the country.

According to Media Digital Johor, the collaboration between the Johor State Government-owned company and the developers of the popular mobile game Mobile Legends follows the success of the Johor Esports Festival and Johor All Star tournaments. These events enjoyed enthusiastic participation for two consecutive years in 2022 and 2023, underscoring the region's growing esports scene.

The announcement comes on the heels of the 'Mobile Legend Bang Bang Esports Malaysia 2024: A New Era' launch event and the presentation of the Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) E-Sports Direction Plan by Moonton Games.

The event, held on Feb 5 at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur, was attended by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim.

Also in attendance were KPRJ CEO Datuk Lukman Abu Bakar, and Johor Sports Council Director Ekmaluddin Ishak, along with senior management from the department.

The MPL Malaysia Season 14 Playoffs in Johor are expected to draw fans and players from across the country, further cementing Johor's position as a burgeoning esports destination.
