Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) reverse-swept CG Esports (CG) 2-1 in Week 3 to close the gap on the league leaders to 3 points with one match in hand.

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 29 September 2025—Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia announced its Season 16 Awards during Week 3 of the Regular Season (26 to 28 September). This season's Awards will not only celebrate the best athletes, talents, and industry stakeholders of the season; it will mark a defining moment in Malaysian esports as the last before the league transitions to an "enhanced franchise format" next year. From rookies chasing their first accolade to legends cementing their legacy, Season 16's honourees will etch their names in history as the last of this era.

The Season 16 Awards introduces a new category exclusively for the media—the "2025 Media - Best Content Award"—to acknowledge the top three pieces of storytelling in the media from the season.

Krystal Tan, Head of Business Development for Malaysia Esports at MOONTON Games, said: "This season's Awards are a tribute to the incredible players, talents, and fans; over the past eight years, they have helped shape this community into the national entertainment behemoth we know and love today. But the Season 16 Awards are extra significant because it also marks the last chapter before we move on to the 'enhanced franchise format'. This year's winners will carry a special legacy, remembered not only for their excellence, but also for closing an important era in Malaysian esports history."

Week 3 Table Watch: CG Esports Retain Crown Despite Losing Unblemised Record

At the end of Week 3, CG Esports (CG) retained their place at the top of the Regular Season table with 13 points. Despite losing to Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) 1-2 on Day 3 and their unblemised Season 16 record, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Esports veterans—led by legend, Muhammad Danial "CikuGais" Mohamad Fuad, one of only three players in the world to have participated in the first four M Series (M1 to M4)—gave fans a glimpse of their glorious past with their strong macro plays.

Team Vamos (VMS) leapfrog into second place with 11 points after a convincing 2-0 victory over Untitled (UNT) in the last match of Week 3. SRG slip to third with 10 points after their close-fought 2-1 victory over CG. However, the history-making three-time league champions have one game in hand over CG and VMS, their defeat of CG reminding fans that they are the blueprint for Malaysian esports.

Both of their teams suffered defeats at the hands of SRG in Week 3 and will be looking to rebuild their momentum at the midway point of the season.
