Week 5 of MPL Malaysia Season 17 marks the start of the second round-robin, where rematches take centre stage and teams face each other with fresh intel and old scores to settle. Despite a week defined by high-intensity clashes, the standings remain strikingly unchanged.
Selangor Red Giants (SRG) continued their imperious run, closing the week without dropping a single game and reinforcing their position as the team to beat. Notably, when Invictus Gaming (iG) returned for a rematch, after taking a game off SRG in their first meeting and proving they could go toe-to-toe, SRG responded with a clinical 2–0 to reaffirm their dominance. Team Rey (TR) matched that energy, also emerging from Week 5 unscathed and holding firm in 2nd place. iG maintained their grip on 3rd despite the loss, keeping the top three intact heading into the back half of the Regular Season.
