KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 30 September A throne cannot be shared. So it was proved in Week 4: Minggu Diraja (meaning "Royal Week" in Bahasa Malaysia) of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 14 Regular Season, which saw title holders, Selangor Red Giants, dominate second-placed Team Vamos in straight games to stay the only team without losing a match so far. The league leaders went on to complete a perfect week by defeating RSG Malaysia 2-0 to go 7 points clear at the top of the Regular Season table and secure their spot in the Playoffs.

At the end of Week 4, Selangor Red Giants top the standings with 17 points, followed by Team Vamos and TODAK with 10 points apiece.

Please see below for the league table after Week 4 of the Regular Season:

Week 4 Recap: A royal rumble

Billed as the most highly anticipated match going of the Regular Season, the match between Selangor Red Giants and Team Vamos was going to be shaped heavily by its Junglers, with both thriving in this assassin-dominated meta. Perhaps it was why both Junglers were casualties number one and two, taken out within the very first minute of the match. Team Vamos' Jungler, Muhammad Nazhan "Chibi" bin Mohd Nor, lost both the purple buff and his life after a successful invasion by the Giants' Mark "Kramm" Rusiana and Muhammad "Yums" Suhairi. This was followed soon after by Muhammad Haqqullah "Sekys" bin Ahmad Shahrul Zaman being chain crowd controlled by Exp Laner Aeliff "Smooth" Ariff, Mid Laner Rizky "Warlord" Agustian, and Roamer Mohammad "Xorn" Noor.

Despite much of the pre-match spotlight being dominated by the Junglers, it was Selangor Red Giants' Gold Laner, John "Innocent" Banal, who stole the plaudits as Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Match with his surprise pick of Wanwan and Moskov giving him 11 kills, zero deaths, and 9 assists. The mercurial marksman also secured two Triple Kills, one of which came in the ultimate teamfight in Game 2, which led to the complete Wipeout of Team Vamos.

Selangor Red Giants Coach, Michael "Arcadia" Bocado, believes that "sacrifice" has been core to the team's success. In response to queries about topping the Regular Season standings and earning a place at the M6 World Championship, he said: "We're confident that we can win it all as long as we sacrifice as how we sacrificed last season."

However, he also cautioned: "I think that the confidence is always there. It's just up to us how we're going to put in the work. Because we cannot just be confident and not do anything extraordinary or don't put the work into the game."

The MPL MY Arena is completely full during the match between Selangor Red Giants and Team Vamos.

Elsewhere, Monster Vicious handed RSG Malaysia and Homebois their first wins of the season after a pair of sub-par showings by the all-Malaysian team. But while Monster Vicious may have lost their three-match win streak, they will be thankful not to have lost more ground to their rivals after they too dropped vital points, with TODAK struggling to overcome Homebois 2-1 and losing 1-2 to JP NINERS. With one extra game played over Monster Vicious, TODAK have cracked the top three for the first time this season, potentially hinting at a return to form for the three-time MPL Malaysia champions. They are also the only team in the top six teams to have gained any ground in Week 4, jumping from fifth to third.

Homebois' first win of the season saw them climb out of the relegation zone. They will credit their win over Monster Vicious to the instant impact of Exp Laner, Markho "Crush" Jaianne Turla; the free agent transferred in for Week 4 to smoothen out Homebois' erratic performances since losing most of their entire team to Team Vamos in the off-season. With three matches left this Regular Season, his teammates will be hoping for the Filipino to gel quickly with their playstyle.

Crush gives MPL Malaysia host, Rose, an incredulous look after being named MVP of the Match on his debut.

Still all to play for in Week 5!

The competition heats up in Week 5, when some teams will mathematically be able to lock in their spots in the Playoffs.

All eyes will be on Team Vamos and how they bounce back from their humbling at the hands of Selangor Red Giants. They will open Week 5 against Monster Vicious on 4 October, at 3:15 PM GMT+8, who themselves need to rediscover the same form which saw them notch back-to-back victories in their first three games of the season. This will be a true test of mental fortitude.

Team Vamos will next go up against Homebois on 5 October, at 3:00 PM GMT+8, in a bittersweet reunion for Muhammad "Udil" Ardiansyah. Malaysia's most expensive esports athlete – he was transferred in from Indonesian team, Alter Ego Esports, for a record MYR 330,000 in January – is the only member from Homebois starting line-up still with the team. However, the Mid Laner has since been usurped by Mohammad "Izanami" Lim, and may watch proceedings from the sidelines. Despite that, his knowledge of his old teammates, including that of his old coach, Khairul "Pabz" Sharif, might be crucial to allowing Homebois to pull off a shock result.

Despite having already qualified to the Playoffs, Selangor Red Giants will look to maintain their win-streak against JP NINERS at 3:00 PM GMT+8 on 6 October. However, the team from Negeri Sembilan will not make life easy, having just secured a win over TODAK. The success of JP NINERS will heavily depend on their high-risk, high-reward playstyle. The Red Giants will be looking to punish them if they overextend, as they so often do.
