Fikri Rizal
Mahruddin, Marketing & Business Development Lead at MOONTON Games, said:
"MLBB esports has never been more popular in Malaysia – our viewership
numbers clearly reflect that. However, we are still far from having unlocked
our fullest potential. We are already the nation's most popular esports league,
but our ambition is to become the most popular form of sporting entertainment
in Malaysia. We are not too far off from that."
Viktor
Proniakin, Product Manager at Esports Charts, said: "The MPL
Malaysia Season 14 Regular Season, which features top-tier teams from across
Malaysia, has drawn even more attention this year. The stage has set new
viewership milestones for the tournament, with a 12.5% increase in peak
viewership compared to Season 13. Additionally, total hours watched grew by
20%, setting yet another record. This marks the highest numbers ever for the
Regular Season stage in MPL Malaysia's history, reflecting the growing
popularity of MLBB esports in the region."

Viktor added: "Notably, Selangor Red
Giants, a strong contender in the league, also had their best viewership ever
during this stage. This marks a big moment for the team, showing their strong connection
with the local fanbase during this record-breaking 14th season."

Week 6 Recap:
A Festival of Upsets
It was upsets galore in the final week of the
Regular Season. The Week 6 opener saw all-Malaysian team, Monster Vicious, pull
off a shock 2-1 victory over Selangor Red Giants to blemish the defending
champions' undefeated record. Heroics by Jungler Muhammad Danish Fitri
"Unii" Bin Razman saw the Monsters turn the tables on the Giants
after losing the first game. Unii earned two accolades for his performances –
the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Match and the first player to use new
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) hero, Suyou, in MPL Malaysia.
Unii roars in triumph after Monster Vicious
come from behind to beat Selangor Red Giants.
RSG MY continued the surprises by snatching a
precious point from Team Vamos in their 1-2 loss to the first runner up. Team
Vamos' star Jungler, Muhammad Nazhan "Chibi" Mohd Nor, led his team
to victory; Chibi single-handedly snowballed the crucial third game to victory
after a mere 10 minutes with devastating use of the hero Nolan, who was the
only hero to reach level 15, four whole levels ahead of RSG MY's
highest-levelled player.
Despite the blip, Team Vamos locked in second
place on Day 2 without needing to lift a finger; both of their second seed
rivals, RED Esports and Monster Vicious, succumbed 0-2 to TODAK and JP NINERS
respectively to cede Team Vamos the number two position in the rankings.
Monster Vicious will reflect on their performances this season, having been the
epitome of inconsistency. The all-local team beat each of their top six rivals
except for JP NINERS, but fell short against the league's bottom three teams,
RSG MY, Team HAQ, and Homebois.
At the other end of the table, RSG MY's Week
6 resurgence was stopped by Homebois, who beat them convincingly on Day 2 to
demote the Season 7 champions to the MLBB Academy League (MAL MY). RSG MY will
next compete in the Season 3 Challengers Conference, where they will be aiming
for a quick return to MPL Malaysia.
Team HAQ fell in straight games to Selangor
Red Giants on Day 3 to finish ninth. They will next play against Young and
Dangerous, the MAL MY Challengers Conference second-placed team, on 27 October
at 12:30 PM GMT+8, with a slot in MPL Malaysia Season 15 on the line.
